Mary Nell (Tiger) Kaulay, began her journey into her afterlife at 12:26 AM on
November 25, 2020. Her final days were spent surrounded by her family and loved
Mary was a full-blood Creek and the second oldest of 13 children to the late
Yahola and Harriet Tiger. She was born on September 4, 1944 in Eufaula, OK. She was
a graduate of Eufaula High School and went on to nursing school in Albuquerque, NM.
Trained by U.S. naval military nurses, Mary became an LPN, specializing in geriatrics
for 40 plus years. She was a highly skilled and respected nurse who mentored many
future nurses of her time. Mary’s first nursing job was at Lawton Indian Hospital in
Lawton, OK, where she met the love of her life and lifelong companion, Ira Kaulay Jr.
They were blessed with 5 children, Norman, Aaron, Todd, Daneta, Susan, 11
grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and one on the way.
Mary loved to sew and was a well known artist for 40 plus years, travelling
across the state to many pow-wows. A long time fan of NFL football, Mary loved the
Raiders and Patrick Mahomes. She was comical and feisty as could be, but loved and
adored by many and will be greatly missed.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Yahola and Harriet, baby sister,
Susan Elaine, and beloved family dog Choco Kaulay. She is survived by husband Ira,
her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, 11 siblings and her aunt.
