Rose Zella Lane, a loving wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, and sister, departed this world on January 9, 2020, at the age of 80. Rose Zella was born January 23, 1939, in Morris, Oklahoma to Gladys Keiser Smith and Clarence Smith. Rose Zella was raised by her mother Gladys and stepfather John Edmonds. Rose Zella was a proud graduate of Morris High School.
Rose Zella married the love of her life, James Huey Lane, on October 14, 1961. Their early years were spent in Del City, moving to Paradise Point in 1975. Rose Zella was a dedicated wife and mother, always ensuring her children and husband had everything they needed. Rose Zella was more than a homemaker, she helped with James Huey’s concrete business, huge garden, taking care of the cows, as well as doing an amazing job raising two children who kept her house filled with numerous young people throughout the years. She loved to entertain those who dropped by for a visit and made the best pecan pie anyone has ever tasted. Rose Zella and James Huey Lane were founding members of the Paradise Point Fire Department. Rose Zella held the position of Secretary for many years, as well as serving as a board member. Rose Zella loved attending gospel singings and she and James Huey would spend hours watching gospel music shows on television. Rose Zella loved to hear and share stories about her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she loved her Oklahoma City Thunder. Rose Zella shared love and laughter with all she met. Those who knew Zella loved her deeply and knew she felt the same. Rose Zella lived life to the fullest with a smile on her face and Jesus in her heart.
Rose Zella was preceded in death by her husband, James Huey, parents, Clarence Smith, and Gladys and John Edmonds, her brothers Buster, Ira, and Bart Smith, and sisters, JoDean Bemis and Berniece Miner. She is survived by daughter Sherri Brown and husband Jack of Katy, Texas; son Steve Lane and wife Angie of Checotah, Oklahoma; and brother Wiley Edmonds and wife Sue of Double Oak, Texas. Rose Zella was the proud grandma of Ashley Brown, Laura England and husband Brandon, Michaela Carter and husband Anthony, Tyler Brown and fiancé Darby Weller, Kristen Hart and husband Michael, Carlie Worley and husband Mark, and Cody Haggard and wife Shandi. She was the great-grandma of Payten, Caileigh, Colton, Preslee, Dallas, Dalton, Connor, Aaliyah, Niko, Morgan, and Finnley. She leaves behind a host of other family and friends.
