Velma was born to Francis Myrl Underhill and Lavaina Nevada (Hood) Underhill on March 2, 1935 in Texanna, Oklahoma. Her public education was completed to the the 6th grade at Central High School.
Velma married the love of her life and devoted husband of 57 years, Buford “Boots” Emberson on September 2, 1951.
Hardships were faced like the death of her husband Buford “Boot” Emberson in January, 2008 and the passing of her sons, Everett Dean Emberson in January 2000, and Buford Clyde Emberson in March, 2004; son-in-law, Tommy Murray in September 2012; also with the passing of her mother and father, along with six brothers and two sisters.
Those who knew Velma “granny” knew she had a big heart for taking care of others. She worked as a home health aide for many years as well as working in many different restaurants you could always see her cooking for the local auction. Velma also worked for Connors State College in Warner, Oklahoma. Everyone knew if you showed up on a Monday night not to get in her way in case she was watching W.W.E. Wrestling. She also loved having a chicken farm, you did not mess with her banty chickens. But in all reality the most important thing was she loved the Lord.
Velma is survived by her sister, Lorene (Underhill) Stewart of Spiro; daughter, Patsy Murray of Checotah and two daughters-in-law, Conetta Emberson of Checotah and
