Wesley Andrew Godwin, 39, of Council Hill, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2020. He was born June 13, 1981 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Randy and Reba Godwin. Wesley grew up in Checotah and graduated from Checotah High School in 1999. He then attended Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology where he received his Associates degree. Wesley was an electrician for several companies, but most recently worked for the Cherokee Nation. Wesley also served as a volunteer fireman for the Lotawatah Fire Department.
Wesley was loved by all who knew him and will be dearly missed. He was a devoted son, caring brother, and the best uncle in the world. He had such a generous heart, always willing to help anyone in need. He was incredibly smart and could fix anything; he was our “MacGyver”. Many of his family and friends describe him as the “one to call” when they needed help. Wesley belonged to a special community of friends that were like family to him. He so enjoyed spending time with them, whether it was hanging out at the pig barn or mudding in his buggy.
Wesley was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Neal and Barbara Godwin, and maternal grandparents, Bill and Willodean Durrett. He is lovingly survived by his parents, Randy and Reba Godwin of Checotah, Oklahoma; his sister Lacey Blankenship, her husband Don, and their children Austin and Avery of Porter, Oklahoma; his girlfriend Megan Taylor and her daughter Emily of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family; and a special group of friends.
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 31, 2020 at Midway Public Schools in Council Hill.
